The Disabled Photographers Society kicked off the New Year with a new photo competition.
The Disabled Photographers Society (DPS) has been helping its members for years get started with photography by providing advice and special equipment for them. In addition, they also allow members to participate in competitions, as a way to encourage members to improve their photography.
One thing that the DPS has done for their members is held seasonal photography competitions, and this year is no different, as the DPS has announced a new competition for Spring 2023. In these competitions, participants are divided into two categories, aspiring and experienced, depending on their skill level.
The Spring competition comes after the winners of the 2022 Winter Photography competition were revealed in January 2023, which had an “open” theme. This allowed participants to be creative with their entries. Daniel Troop won 1st place in the experienced category for his piece "A Splash of Colour", while Adam Wilson won 1st place in the aspiring category for his piece "Regents Canal".
This year’s competition has the theme “patterns/repetition” and they have until the 1st of April 2023 to submit their entries. The winners will be revealed around May and participants' work may have a chance to be featured in the DPS' quarterly magazine InFocus. Visit the DPS website to look at photos from previous competitions and find out more about the organisation.
